Halal make-up is making news headlines today as it has become available in the UK. The main discussions in the news seem to be focused around whether there is a gap in the market for halal make-up for Muslim women or whether businesses are ‘cashing in’ on halal products. But this leads me to wonder, religion aside, whether this represents a wider opinion view for all women?
Most of us are conscious about the products we are putting on our skin particularly with regards to chemicals, alcohol and the testing process which the products undergo. I often receive emails from customers on these matters, so perhaps halal make-up could be seen as extension to the animal friendly/anti-animal testing culture and not purely for religious reason as more of us are not only concerned about how the products are tested but whether the products actually contain ingredients derived from dead animals.
I think it will be interesting to see how the market leaders in the cosmetics industry react to these products. What do you think?

Oriflame Tender Care - New Lip Balm
Tender Care also known as a 'pot of magic' is one of Oriflame's most popular products and 1 pot is being sold every 20 minutes -according to oriflame.com
It contains 3 main active ingredients; mineral oil, beeswax and lanolin. Tender Care can be used on the hands, cuticles and elbows to soothe dry skin. It can be applied to the skin at the sides of eyes to help with sore or irritated skin and is widely used to provide relief from dry lips.
It has now been made available as a Tender Care Lip Balm in the shape of a lipstick to provide easier application to the lips. It still contains beeswax to nourish the lips and also contains olive oil to provide protection and echium oil to moisturise and soothe the lips. Fresh feet for summer with Oriflame Tea Tree Oil
To help keep my feet fresh and get them ready for summer I'm using tea tree oil.
It's 100% organic; grown without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers, so it's pure for the skin and the environment.
It was actually a chiropodist who recommended using tea tree oil on the feet as a natural remedy for athletes foot, fungal infections and to help keep the feet smelling fresh. So I added a few drops into the water of my foot spa and after spending the morning shopping in heels it was just what I needed. My tired feet felt revived, softer and smelt fresh!

Face Primer Review
Oriflame’s description
‘Lightweight lotion formulated with silicones to soften, soothe and mattify skin. Make-up glides on and stays fresh all day. Apply under foundation or powder. Can also be used as a base for eyeshadow. 30 ml.’
My opinion
This face primer certainly lives up to being lightweight and doesn’t leave my skin looking greasy. I have tried this under both a liquid foundation and just a powder; I personally feel it works better under a liquid foundation as it actually does allow the foundation to ‘glide on’ easily. This means that I can apply less foundation than usual which is great if like me, you’re quite pale and suffer with looking orange from the smallest amount of the palest foundation.
How could it be improved?
For me, the only thing that could be added to this face primer is sun protection but one way around this would be to use a day cream containing sun protection first thing.
Overall
I use this as part of my everyday make-up routine and I’d only recommend it for that purpose as Oriflame have other primers available if you’re looking for something more luxurious. I’d consider it to be a budget primer at £5.45 so I think it’s fair to say that it does the job at an affordable price and rate the primer at 4.5 out of 5.

Oriflame's Even Out Face Cream SPF 20 has returned
Oriflame's Even Out Face Cream SPF 20 was one of our most popular products with worldwide customers ordering several at a time. This specialist cream was used in addition to a regular skin care routine to help lighten the skin, reduce dark spots and even out the skin tone.
The old, outdated purple bottle version seen on the left has received a face lift of it's own and is now available as two new updated versions;
1) Optimals Even Out Day Cream SPF 20 can be used daily to help reduce existing skin pigmentation with the SPF 20 formula protecting the skin from further damage caused by exposure to the sun.
2) Optimals Even Out Concentrate is best used in combination with day cream to further prevent discolouration of the skin and target specific areas. It contains liquorice extract & vitamin C as was seen in the previous version.
Let us know your thoughts on the new products.
